The waiting drove us mad!
We're brought a party to a party to kick off our 7th year! We hosted a very special popup beer garden at FRESH Life Marketplace of Makers, Artists & Entrepreneurs when Pearl Jam played Sea.Hear.Now in Asbury Park.
It's no secret that we are huge fans, and we are proud and delighted to bring to you these four new beers, inspired by the music and the band we love.
Fist to The Jaw - IPA
Cigar Box on the Floor - Smoked Porter
Lemon Yellow Sun - Wheat
Don't Go On Me - Golden Ale
The artwork on these cans was done in collaboration with one of our great friend Local Summer Co. and we hope you catch all of the little references on each can - we've put some great Easter eggs for all the other fellow hardcore fans!
Lemon yellow sun - wheat - 5% ABV
Limited Four Packs (To Go): $16
Inspiration behind the artwork:
Eddie Vedder and composition notebooks are synonymous at this point. What we aspired to achieve was turning this notebook into Jeremy Wade Delle’s notebook (the titular character to the song). You’ll see his initials, some drawings, an homage to Green River, Mother Love Bone, Mookie Blaylock. Richardson High School’s mascot is also represented as well as cultural references of D.A.R.E. the Presidential Election and his sign off of “Later Days” from his last letter to a school friend, instead of his usual, “Write Back.”
FIST TO THE JAW - IPA - 6.9% ABV
Limited Four Packs (To Go): $16
Inspiration behind the artwork:
Evil Kneivel meets Batman. A fist to the jaw is also a little play on “hit me with a surprise left” and immediately the comic book “POW!” “WHAM!” imagery came to mind and given the Evil Kneivel and Batman references from previous tour posters and guitar pics, this just seemed perfect.
CIGAR BOX ON THE FLOOR - SMOKED PORTER - 5.7% ABV
Limited Four Packs (To Go): $16
Inspiration behind the artwork:
Immortality was often linked to the death of Kurt Cobain given the timing of the song premiering live, and of course the words “cigar box on the floor” often being referred to one of the crime scene photos. Instead of referencing the tragic loss of Kurt and drug paraphernalia, we used this concept to pay tribute to the many legends that have previously passed, yet still live on in our ears daily.
CoryellCourt is a direct reference to the movie Singles which featured many of the bands from Seattle - and a garage door opener signifying the memory seemed appropriate.
Hi, How Are You? is a reference to a tshirt Kurt Cobain wore, of the Daniel Johnston song - Pearl Jam also covered Walking The Cow later that year at the Bridge School Benefit in 1994.
The Apple is in memory of Andrew Wood - Mother Love Bone.
”Come and Save Me” and the Jesus Christ picture with his eyes sewn shut is a tribute to Layne Staley - and is an image of one of his tattoos - a reference to Man in the Box by Alice in Chains.
The spiral fork was a gift from Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon to Chris Cornell. We miss all of these singers dearly.
DON’T GO ON ME - GOLDEN ALE - 5.5% ABV
Limited Four Packs (To Go): $16
During the recording of Vs, Pearl Jam’s second album, it was rumored that Go was written about Eddie Vedder’s loyal Toyota pickup truck - which he had also slept in during the recording according to folklore. On this can you’ll see references to the cover of the album with the sheep as well as rats underneath the truckbed.
The David J Gunn Band is a reference to Pearl Jam’s secret show at Slim’s Cafe in San Francisco shortly after they completed the recording of the album, where they were billed as the David J Gunn band after the doctor who was murdered for assisting in abortions. It seems very prevalent to this day.
